Debuting at TechCrunch Disrupt, The Impossible Quest puts you the middle of a VR car chase designed by legendary Hollywood concept artist, Syd Mead. The real-time 3D experience starts with the creation of a 3D artwork using our custom VR painting software. You’re then put behind the wheel of the new Toyota Prius Prime to race it safety. This VR experience is directed by Jason Zada and enhanced by various 4D effects that literally blow you away.
As a part of the art team, I worked on the VR part of the game, which existed out of 6 scenes in 6 different environments; old city, snow peak, desert, jungle, new city and museum. For each scene we had 1 week of production time, which meant we had to work quick and smart. Assets were set up in a very modular way. For instance, the trees for the jungle scene were created by combining 2 to 3 elements, having a variation on each element, so the trees would not look too repetitive.
